Referring physicians and nurse practitioners are encouraged to have patients explore resources available in the community to support weight loss prior to a surgery recommendation. This includes lifestyle change, such as those offered through the Primary Care Networks or the Alberta Healthy Living Program.

A complete referral and supporting documentation is required.

Communication
After a referral is received and reviewed, the referring provider is informed of the triage decision.
The patient is contacted with information about the clinic orientation and required classes and individual appointments are booked after. Our clinic staff will communicate regularly with the referring provider. |
