Information re: COVID-19 & the Calgary Adult Bariatric Surgery Clinic
Per current Alberta Health Service public health guidelines, we recommend that all eligible patients receive COVID-19 vaccination. Obesity and related comorbidities are independent risk factors for mortality in COVID-19 infection.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate the unprecedented and evolving COVID-19 situation. Some clinic staff are assisting with Covid-19 response, as a result we have reduced capacity to see patients.
Due to professional college regulations, staff may be unable to complete virtual appointments if you are not physically located in the province of Alberta. This situation is evolving and may change. We will keep you updated as information is available. If you will be out of the province during a scheduled appointment, please call to reschedule.
Attending Virtual Visits: Plan the virtual visit around other activities to be sure you are in a safe space where you can focus your undivided attention on the appointment (not driving or distracted in any other way).
Patients coming into the office for an appointment (with Surgeon or Internal Medicine) are asked to come alone. If necessary, bring only 1 support person with you. All patients entering the building are required to follow all COVID-19 protocols including being screened for COVID-19 and wearing a mask while onsite until these restrictions are lifted.
Patients who have already been seen by a Nurse Case Manager and don't have any upcoming appointments booked, call us at (403) 955-8088 to schedule your next appointment.
Service Updates:
1. Classes & Appointments are being offered virtually.
2. Surgeries - Elective surgeries are being scheduled in Alberta. If your surgery date was postponed, you will be contacted by the surgeons office to reschedule. Please be patient and wait for your surgeon’s office and the pre-operative clinic to call you to re-schedule appointments. Once you've been contacted by your surgeon’s office, please call the Bariatric Clinic so we can schedule any required/outstanding appointments. The Bariatric Clinic does not control surgical booking and is unable to provide information about current scheduling.
